A dream market publication and pre-order details for The House at the End of Lacelean Street
A few weeks have passed since my last newsletter, and winter is finally loosening its grip here in Wales.
Spring dawns with news of an acceptance, one I’ve been eager to share for quite some time. This week my short story, Coblynau, is published in Issue 4 of the prestigious Gamut Magazine! Gamut publishes the kind of fiction I love to read, so to have my work featured here feels like a huge achievement.
I urge you to check out their site (Issue 1 is available to read for free) and please consider subscribing.

Told from the point of view of a former coal miner who is living in a nursing home, Coblynau is a tale of grief, loss, and near death experience. That said, it has a huge amount of heart and is a personal favourite of mine because it’s set in the South Wales valleys where I grew up. Coblynau was first published in the collection Mists and Megaliths, which is available for just 99p.

In other news, The House at the End of Lacelean Street publishes two weeks today, and I have been thrilled to read early reviews. If you enjoy modern gothic horror which delves deep into the psychology of its characters, then I hope you’ll consider a pre-order. Early reviews are available to read on Goodreads, here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/81263019-the-house-at-the-end-of-lacelean-street
Pre-order via publisher’s website here: https://darkmattermagazine.shop/products/the-house-at-the-end-of-lacelean-street
I did a final proofread of the script this week and fell in love with the story all over again. I’m one of those writers who, once a story publishes, cannot bear to read it again, so the final read-through feels like a farewell. Afterwards, I set it free and encourage it to fly high and find its readers.
N.B. It will soon be available from wherever you prefer to buy your media, but if you can order straight from the publisher’s website it’s a great help, as small businesses are struggling most in the current economic climate.
That’s all for now. I wish you all a great week.
Always grateful for your support!

Wonderful news all around, Cath! 🖤
Congratulations Catherine on getting your short story published in Gamut Mag! 🙌🏻 I think I remember it from when I read M&M’s but I’ll be checking it out again soon as planning on rereading all your work I have here throughout the year 😁 Very much looking forward to reading Lacelean too, the reviews have been excellent so far, so another congrats for that too! 🥳
