Hi folks!
Today (April 16th, 2024) sees the launch of my latest novella, The House at the End of Lacelean Street.
This is my second publication through Dark Matter Ink, and I’d like to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks to Rob Carroll and the team for all their hard work and support.
The story follows three distinct characters who find themselves boarding a bright yellow bus at midnight during a storm—destination Lacelean Street. None of them have ever heard of Lacelean Street, nor do they have any clue as to what triggered them to flee from home, leaving behind all their possessions and memories.
I would describe The House At The End Of Lacelean Street as psychological horror with a touch of the cosmic, but it is also a speculative mystery story. On the surface it’s a story about a spooky house, but at its core it’s far deeper. To sum it up, think foreboding atmosphere and a sense of impending doom rather than gore or jump scare.
Early reviews on Goodreads have been extremely positive, and I am thankful to those who have taken the time to read and review an advanced copy. Lacelean Street has been likened to The Twilight Zone, Tales of the Unexpected, and the writing has been compared to both Shirley Jackson and Robert Aickman. Who could ask for more?
Both EPub and paperback copies are available from the publisher’s website or all the usual places, including Amazon: https://bit.ly/LaceleanSt
If you have a few moments to spare, you can listen to a very short reading of the opening, complete with Welsh accent at the top of this post.
I hope you’ll accompany Claudia, Howard, and Stacey down Lacelean Street and discover all that the house has in store.
Your support is genuinely appreciated.
Yours,
Catherine McCarthy
This was so wonderful, Catherine. I miss hearing that distinctive Welsh accent.
I could listen to this all day!! Is that you on the recording?
