This was beautiful, Catherine. I loved the cow-as-observer moment. And congrats on the Spanish reception of Mosaic, what a wonderful thing to witness.

You live in a beautiful part of the world, it must be lovely seeing the kites. We occasionally see hawks where I am. Delighted to hear how well Mosaic is doing in Spain, and also nice cover reveal! I look forward to hearing more about it!

Really enjoyed reading this, Cath. There's a lot of red kites where I live too (one swooped down right in front of my car when I was driving last week and made off with some fresh roadkill!) And I understand completely about seeing more than most...

Thank you, Bev. Xxx It's good to see they've made a comeback.

Nice to hear from you again! I was actually going to DM you to see if all was well.

Your observations of the cattle were interesting, but what always fascinates me is how one or two dogs can control a herd of cattle or sheep.

Also interested in why the kites were hunted. I know that in Britain, a lot of birds were hunted for the table, that we in North America would never think about as a game bird, as we pretty much limit ourselves to ducks, geese, and quail. Or were they hunted because of their impact on something else?

Glad you are well.

Thank you, Stephen. There was not much to report, so that was the reason for the delay. Red kites were hunted here in the past because they were wrongly seen as a threat to game birds. There was also a problem with egg collecting, which also significantly reduced the population.
