This week sees the brand new release of a very special anthology from Brigids Gate Press, a publisher I have had the pleasure of working with on several occasions.
Brigid’s Sisters is available only in hardback, and there’s a reason for that. It features the work of Elizabeth Leggett, a renowned artist and award winner, so necessitated a special edition in order to show off the work to best effect.
I am delighted to have my story, Rainbow’s End, featured in the anthology alongside artwork, poems, and stories by other women writers.
As the description says: Brigid’s Sisters features art and stories of strong women, dreamers and survivors; women who were forged in flame.
Rainbow’s End is a Gothic tale, a tale that tells the tragic story of a woman scorned in the worst possible way. As a huge Alice in Wonderland fan, I weaved in elements from Carroll’s famous novel to give it a dream-like/hallucinogenic feel. There’s also a nod to the rainbow in The Wizard of Oz, another favourite of mine.
I’ve had a sneak peek at some of the illustrations that lie within, and cannot wait to see the book in the flesh. This one is special.
Of course there are many books out there, and it can be difficult to choose where to spend one’s hard-earned money, but personally I love special edition hardcovers and occasionally treat myself, especially if they’re illustrated (my most recent purchase being Slewfoot by Brom).
I’m sure you’ll hear more about this soon from the publisher, but in case you’re interested, I’ll add the link here. (Please note, it is also available to purchase on Amazon.)
